Local Non-profit Seeks to Increase Mentorship Among the Youth it Serves

Court Appointed Special Advocates/Prince George’s County, which trains ordinary citizens to advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children, is joining local and national organizations to promote the need for positive role models for youth during National Mentoring Month 2011.

As millions of Americans are in the midst of holiday indulgence, three families have spent the past two months competing in a fitness challenge to improve their overall health. The families – from Boston, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. – have children who attend a local Boys & Girls Club and have been participating in Boys & Girls Clubs of America's (BGCA) first-ever Triple Play Fit Family Challenge. Last night in Los Angeles, the families convened to find out which family came out on top. The winning family, the Humphries of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, D.C., was announced by Dr. Ian Smith.

The Heritage Newspaper - Liberia reports President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has begun diplomatic inquiry into circumstances that resulted to the detention of former Liberia Peace Council (LPC) leader Mr. George Boley in the United States.  The report further states, Grand Gedeh County lawmakers Zoe Emmanuel Pennue and Rufus Gbeor renewed appeals on the heels of two separate meetings between the Grand Gedeh County Legislative Caucus and the President Sirleaf.
